I fell in love with this amazing little mini-quilt made by June-at-Noon.

I’ve always loved traditional red work and red and white pieced quilts.  Just a drop of inspiration for the evening.

I’m constantly working to add little touches around the shop that might inspire and delight.

One of our fab teachers, Rhonda aka Stitching Nut, hooked up this beautiful little edging for the new skirt on our back room craft sink.   It needs to be stitched on and I need to press the skirt, but it was just too cute not to show off!

My friends at Roost had these amazing vintage type set trays used to house type set for printing presses.  I instantly fell in love and creative juices started churning.  Fresh off my burst of color in creating the latest shop display, I created this!

Im addicted to color right now.

I'm addicted to color right now.

It was a blast to create, finding colors around the shop, looking for bits and bobs to add depth and interest.

Hope this bit of color inspires you in either your knitting or crochet or to use yarn in other ways to create are or objects of interest around your home.  This is on display right now in the front window if you’re local and walking by.  Soon it will have a place of honor on the wall.

Anyone want to try something inspired by this poem?

Knitted Things

by Karla Kuskin

There was a witch who knitted things:

Elephants and playglOund swings.

She knitted rain,

She knitted night,

But nothing really came out right.

The elephants had just one tusk

And night looked more

Like dawn or dusk.

The rain was snow

And when she tried

To knit an egg

It came out fried.

She knitted birds

With buttonholes

And twenty rubber butter rolls.

She knitted blue angora trees.

She purl stitched countless purple fleas.

She knitted a palace in need of a darn.

She knitted a battle and ran out of yarn.

She drew out a strand

Of her gleaming, green hair

And knitted a lawn

Till she just wasn’t there.

It might be gray and dreary outside still, but we’re celebrating color at Seed Stitch.

Oscar runway worthy?

Inspired by the Yarn Crawl colors, we’re boosting the already overwhelming color in the shop to give you some color-filled energy.

Hoping this starts your day off with a smile.

Oh how I love you Swans Island.  If you’re not familiar, Swans Island is an amazing company that has made amazing Maine-made blankets from the wool of sheep reared on an island in Maine.  They are truly stunning.  They recently ventured into the hand knitting yarn world and our first shipment has just arrived.

I’ve already started dreaming of what I’ll make.  I think I’m going to whip up an Urbana by Stephen West.

Some of you may know that I spearheaded the effort to organize a Yarn Crawl of the shops on the North Shore of Boston.  Despite torrential rains last year it was a HUGE success.  Crawlers had so much fun and so did the shops!

So we’re at it again.

Planning is in full swing, shops are getting ready, I’m working on vendor donations for prizes and soo sooo much more.  This year we’re planning on many enhancements based on the wonderful comments from our recent survey.  So stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the date.  Sign up for email updates.

If you’re not from the New England area, it’s a perfect opportunity to come and visit us.  We’ll be posting great places to stay, eat and enjoy for folks who might not be local.  If you’re crawling, you can also place a badge, showing your support on your website.
