If you’re a knitter you know you just can’t stop knitting when the weather turns warm.  We have to keep our hands busy somehow, but we certainly don’t want to be knitting a big afghan and have it drape over our laps in 90 degree weather.  So in the spirit of warm weather knitting, A Yarn Tale will be featuring some quick and summer-spirited knitting projects over the next couple of weeks.  Sometimes you want to make something geared toward summer and other times you just want a quick rewarding project that you can complete before your next summer BBQ.

The first featured project is one you may have seen if you’ve been in the store lately, but for those of you have not made it in yet it’s one of my favorite.

This little lovely was made for my daughter, who although would proudly say to anyone “Mummy made this”, did not really love this doll as much as I did.  So into the store it came because I know you’ll love her like I do.  This project is great for summer not only because it’s small and relatively quick — It’s a stash buster where you can use up bits and bobs of yarn you just couldn’t part with.  I could easily complete an arm or a leg between calendar engagements, making it also well suited to anyone’s summer schedule.  This pattern can be found in Debbie Bliss’ Essential Knits for Kids.

If you have kids or grand kids you’ll be glad to have this book in your collection.  I’ve knit several items from this book (another one to make its way into the store soon for show and tell) and I think you will too.

Happy summer knitting.  Stay tuned here for more projects geared toward summer temps and summer schedules or stop by the store.  We have lots of other great projects in mind.
